After a period of personal and professional reassessment Mick Taylor emerged from the shadows of his classic stint in the Rolling Stones with his first solo album. Mix Stonesy rock and blues with Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow and the resulting stew will sound something like Mick Taylor's eponymous debut.

I have loved and cherished this record since the day it was released 40 years ago. I think Mick's voice stands up as a lead vocalist much better than most people do, and I cannot criticize his singing in any way ... but this is no Stones Album, it's all Mick Taylor, THE KID who followed in the shoes of Clapton and Peter Green in Mayall's Blues Breakers, who replaced Brian Jones in therollingstones* and took them to musical heights never seen or heard before, or after, his late 1974 departure from "The World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band." Listen with "no expectations" and enjoy the ride ...... there is musical magic within these grooves.
I first discovered Mick Taylor by accident really. He was in a program i first viewed on TV," Hurricane Crossfire". Then also on a another dvd "The Mick Taylor Years, 1969 - 1974". I then wanted to take a closer look so i purchased it of course through AMAZON UK. He caught my attention as he was played Lead Guitar during a period which became known as the Mick Taylor years 1969 - 1974 arguably or as noted by many critics the best line up this group ever had. I noticed at least for me he stood out not because he was dancing or jumping about the stage, actually quite the opposite he was very quiet and totally in his own world with his Guitar. Jagger described him as a Virtuoso Guitarist. I may be wrong but i felt he looked rather confused and a little unhappy and to me he did not belong or fit with this group. Although i liked the music until the mid 70"s i did not particularly like the group and what they represented. Keith Richards is indeed very fortunate to not be dead re- the drug addiction etc. I have known many who are now passed due to drugs. When he departed that group and the scene that he was surrounded in i felt good about his choice. He has so much talent and so much to give to the Musical world. I bought the cd named simply "Mick Taylor" and it is great i love it all particularly his solo or musical pieces, all of it really. I have listened to it and have decided to purchase his other works and did. One was a tutorial. I have a copy i watched, the other copy i gave to a neighbour who has met him as he was a roadie years ago & plays guitar has several at home. He was happy to have this tutorial and any budding Guitarist should purchase it, it is invaluable. He also has participated in other cd's with a woman named Carla. I will soon purchase this also as i like both the Blues and Jazz. Should anyone purchase this cd i believe they will enjoy it all as i have. It is never too late to discover TALENT. Mr. Taylor on the top hundred guitarists list from the Rolling Stone magazine, he is number 37 which is quite an achievement and well deserved. His Guitar playing is so smooth and silky. Listen to him you will not regret it.
